The Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan 2021 (SPRP2021) was introduced in February 2020 and is WHO’s strategy aimed at guiding the coordinated action to be taken at the national, regional, and global levels to overcome the ongoing challenges in the response to COVID-19, address inequities, and chart the course out of the pandemic.

The SPRP2021 builds on key learnings, and looks towards the safe, equitable and effective delivery of diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines to successfully tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The WHO Foundation managed COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund (SRF), in collaboration with the UN Foundation and a global network of fiduciary partners which closed December 2021. Find out more on how the Fund made an impact.

WHO continues to provide critical support and guidance to countries in the COVID-19 response. More adequate, sustained & flexible funding is still needed to continue responding effectively through the ten pillars of the SPRP21.

Individuals and companies can support World Health Organization’s lifesaving work. Donations are being accepted to support WHO and its partners’ response efforts to COVID-19 and other health emergencies around the globe via donate.covid19response.who.foundation.

In addition, WHO Foundation is a partner of the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) that was launched by WHO and other stakeholders in April 2020. This partnership has supported the fastest, most coordinated, and successful global effort to develop tools to fight a disease in history. WHO Foundation globally supports this initiative through the ACT Together Fund and supports WHO’s leading role in vaccination through COVAX.

Give a Breath for the Americas

In many countries in the Americas, a severe oxygen shortage has threatened the health of people with respiratory issues fighting COVID-19.
The shortage has put an incredible strain on the region’s health services and led to thousands of unnecessary deaths. WHO Foundation launched Give a Breath for the Americas to support WHO and PAHO’s efforts in the region.
The campaign received support from WHO’s good will Ambassador and Brazilian international football star Alisson Becker.
