This Giving Season, you have the power to make a difference. Together, we can create a world where everyone, everywhere, has access to the healthcare they deserve.
By Sandra Sorial, Director of Campaigns and Supporter Engagement, WHO Foundation.
As the Director of Campaigns and Supporter Engagement at the WHO Foundation, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the power of collective action. This giving season, I’m dedicating our efforts to support the World Health Organization’s (WHO) critical work in emergencies and non-emergency areas like women’s and maternal health.
When it comes to solving the world’s most pressing global health challenges, we often think of major philanthropists and big corporations. But I believe that real change can come from ordinary people like you and me. We may be busy parents, juggling work and family responsibilities. Yet, we care deeply about the world and want to make a difference.
I recall a poignant moment in Jordan, where a refugee, having just received a modest allowance, approached me and asked how he could donate to others in greater need. This ignited a spark of hope and resilience within me. It reminded me that individuals, coming together for the greater good, are the true catalysts for progress, peace, and innovation. This belief empowers me to strive for a better future for our children.
Why WHO?
WHO is more than just an organization; it’s a beacon of hope, a lifeline for millions around the globe. From responding to devastating crises in Ukraine, Gaza, and Lebanon to advocating for women’s health and maternal rights, WHO is at the forefront of global health initiatives.
The Power of Community and Solidarity
History is replete with examples of how ordinary people, united by a common cause, have brought about extraordinary change. From the civil rights movement to the fight against HIV/AIDS, community mobilization and solidarity are pivotal in shaping a better world. I believe that this giving season, we have the opportunity to harness that same power. By coming together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals. Our collective support can help WHO provide essential healthcare services, deliver life-saving vaccines, and empower communities to build a healthier future.
Every Gift Matters
One of the most inspiring aspects of this digital age is the way it has opened up charitable giving. Philanthropy is not confined to the wealthy and elite or to local causes. Today, anyone with an internet connection can contribute to the causes they care about most around the world. By supporting WHO, you’re not just making a donation; you’re becoming part of a global movement. You’re empowering individuals and communities to overcome adversity and build resilience.
Join Us This Giving Season
I invite you to join us in this noble endeavor. Together, we can create a world where everyone, everywhere, has access to the healthcare they deserve. Let’s make this giving season a catalyst for positive change. Let’s show the world the power of human compassion and the transformative impact of collective action. Let’s build a healthier, more equitable world. Let’s Share the Health.
